Thanksgiving Sale (yes, even the books)

I’m continuing my acts of consumer disobedience and declining to go anywhere near anything to do with black Friday.  I’ll be tucked up at home playing board games, making ice cream, and quite possibly knitting.  I hope whatever you’re doing, you like it as much as I like being home in my pjs.

But it’s become something of a tradition to do a Thanksgiving sale around here, and I like traditions, so I’m doing it again.

From now through the end of the day on Monday, all my downloadable patterns are on sale.  You can get 10% off 1 item, 15% off 2 items, or 20% off 3 or more items.  It’s good for everything in my ravelry shop…individual patterns, small sets, and yes, even the books (this is the first time the books have ever be included in a sale).

Here’s how it works:

1) Go to my Ravelry pattern page, find the patterns you like, and add them to your cart (this only works if you add them to your ravelry cart).

2) Once you’ve got your cart loaded up and you’re ready to check out, click on the button that says ‘use a coupon code’ (it’s just to the left of the ‘checkout now’ button).

3) Enter your code.  If you’re getting 1 item, use ‘Turkey 1′ to get 10% off.  If you’re getting 2 items, use ‘Turkey 2′ to get 15% off.  If you’re getting 3 or more items, use ‘Turkey 3′ to get 20% off.

4) Hit ‘apply.’  Your discount will be shown immediately.  Double check that you see it, hit ‘checkout now,’ and finish up.

And, because I have an abiding soft spot in my heart for paper books, the physical books are on sale too.  From now through the end of Monday, all physical books are 10% off their regular price.  No special codes needed, just head over to The Knitter’s Curiosity Cabinet page or the Rabble Rousers page and you’ll see what to do!

Sidetracked

The sock, it is not yet finished.  It was a productive weekend in lot of other ways though (if by productive you’ll take ‘relaxing’ and ‘enjoyable’), so I’ll pretend I don’t mind the delay.  This is, of course, a filthy lie and the delay is actually driving me bonkers.  But until we get that time machine sorted out, it will have to do.

But, I do have the ability to start Monday out on a good note for at least two people, Brenda (goodstuff on rav) and Anna have won the Handmaiden from last week.  And, as a little goody for everyone who didn’t win, from now until Sunday evening, you can get Rampant (that’s them over there in the picture, they’re one of my favorite patterns done with Handmaiden yarn) for free when you by any of my other patterns.  Just go to my list of patterns, put Rampant in your cart, put something else in your cart, and use the code “Handmaiden” at checkout.  You’ll see the discount reflected right away.

Come back tomorrow for the final Rabble Rousers yarn giveaway!  Handing out yarn has been a totally unreasonable amount of fun.  I’m hoping you guys have enjoyed it too.

More or Less a Sock

The weekend saw some serious sock progress.  The lonely sock now has about 2/3 of a mate (just down past the gusset).  I feel there should be some sort of tasteless joke in there, but I’ll leave filling it in as an exercise for the reader.

For today, I’ll take the opportunity to let Lauren of  Ruthie Pearl and Sue of Adlerwood Quilts know they’ve won the Plucky Knitter yarn (I’ve emailed both to ask for a mailing address).

Now, if I could, I’d send yarn to all of you.  I can’t, but I can give you patterns.  So, from now until Sunday evening my time you can have Whippersnapper for free when you buy any other pattern (I made Whippersnapper with Plucky Knitter’s yarn and loved every minute of it).  To get the pattern for free, just go to my list of patterns, put Whippersnapper in your cart, put something else in your cart, and use the code “Plucky” at checkout.  You’ll see the discount reflected right away.

Updates

Sooooo, anyone wanna see what’s sitting on my shelf?

That looks suspiciously like a book.  A real live physical book.  The kind with ink and pages.  The kind you can pick up and hold and sniff and give yourself a papercut with.  And guys…it’s likely immodest to say this, but wow does it look good.  I love the e version too, but somehow the paper one always wins first place in my heart.

So, what does this mean for the folks who have ordered the book?  Well, the ones on the shelf are the author advance copies (the printer sends a tiny stack to the author before the big shipment goes out).  I can’t send you those.  There aren’t enough to go around, and I’m too busy petting them.  But, the good news is that the rest of the books have reached the distributor, and they should start shipping out late next week.  I’ll keep you updated as things progress, but it’s looking like everything should be in the mail before June 15!

Which brings me to one little reminder.  Up until now, the physical book has been offered at a pre-order discount.  Next week, when the book starts shipping, the discount will end.  So if you’ve been holding off on ordering because you wanted a firmer shipping date, but you still want the discount, this is the time to order.  And, on a similarly administrative note, the summer sale ends tonight, so if you’re looking for any individual patterns, this is a good chance to stock up.

Summer Sale

Somehow it slipped my mind that it’s a holiday weekend and the unofficial start of summer and all those lovely things.  Just to ward off any of that silly ‘the summer isn’t for knitting’ nonsense, I thought I’d have a little sale to encourage you to keep right on knitting, despite the thermometer!

So from now till the end of the day (eastern time) on May 31, all the individual patterns and small collections (so everything except the two big books) are 40% off.  All you have to do is go here, find what you like, and add it to your cart.  When you’re ready to checkout, look for the button that says ‘use a coupon code,’ it’s to the left of the ‘checkout now’ button.  Type in the word SUMMER, hit apply, and you’ll get 40% off.  Happy knitting!

Thanksgiving Sale

All of my Thanksgiving plans are set.  I’ve secured a new game (Mansions of Madness, let’s hear it for games with 20+ page rulebooks), we’ve found a way to consume the requisite Thanksgiving pizza, and we’re finishing up the evening with dessert with friends.  Should be a lovely day.

Tomorrow, I will be staying inside and refusing to shop.  We’ll call it an act of consumer disobedience.  The mall and I don’t get along under the best of circumstances, and it’s totally banned during November and December.

But on the off chance you’re the sort who likes to shop, I’m here to help (I’m thoughtful like that).  I’ll join the crowd and have a Thanksgiving sale.  From now through the end of the day on Monday, you can get 10% off 1 pattern, 20% off 2 patterns, or 30% off 3 or more patterns.  It’s good for all the individual patterns and all the 2 or 3 pattern sets.

If you’re getting 1 item, use ‘Turkey 10’ to get 10% off.  If you’re getting 2 items, use ‘Turkey 20’ to get 20% off.  If you’re getting 3 items, use ‘Turkey 30’ to get 30% off.

4) Hit ‘apply.’  Your discount will be shown immediately.  Double check that you see it, hit ‘checkout now,’ and finish up.

I hope it’s a lovely day for you all, and that you can find some time to tuck up at home in your pajamas and enjoy some nice quiet knitting!

Getting Organized

Some time this weekend (when depends entirely on when I wake up), I’m going to go through and change the prices on some of my patterns.  The goal here is to make the prices consistent across types of patterns.  When I’m done, all sock patterns will be the same price, and all the other sorts of patterns and pattern sets will be more consistently priced.  It means the prices of some patterns will be going up (not a lot…most of the changes will be less than a dollar).  But I wanted to give everyone a heads up so no one is surprised.

And in case you’re worried the price will go up on something you’ve been considering, I’m putting all the individual patterns on sale for 15% off from now till the end of the day (eastern time) on November 5.  Just go to the store, put everything you want in your cart, hit the ‘use a coupon code’ button in the cart, type in ‘Violently Domestic’ and hit the ‘apply’ button.  You’ll see the discount right away.

Inlay Knitalong

To celebrate Inlay, I’m having a little bit of a knitalong.  I’m doing it over in the Silk Road Socks group.  I realized I wanted to make these socks when I was doing the research for that book.  I saw all the gorgeous floors peeking out from under the rugs and filed away the idea of doing a pattern based on the fancy tile work.  Inlay was the result.  So I’m totally declaring it ok to host the knitalong in the same place.

Now, if you’re the sort who wants to make exactly the sock in the picture, I can help with that!

  • Laura at Handwerks has graciously offered a 20% off Sock plus 8 coupon for us.  Just mention “inlay” at checkout.  The gray socks are in her Sock Plus 8 in the color Smoke.
  • Suzan at Barking Dog Yarns wants to help too and has also offered us a 20% off coupon.  Just use the promo code “Knitty2011” at checkout.  The blue socks are in her Sirius in the color Iroquois Moon.
  • And while Claudia at Wollmeise is awesome, all of you Wollmeise fans know that just managing to get a hold of a skein can be a bit of a trick.   Alas, I have no discount to offer.  But for those of you who wish to try it, the orange socks are in her Twin in the color Campari.

So, if you’re planning to make them, come do it with the rest of us!

Tiny Reminder

Just a tiny reminder that the 50% off coupon expires this Sunday.  To use it, put 3 or more patterns in your cart (here or on Ravelry, it’s all the same cart), click ‘use a coupon code,’ put in the code ‘Math4Knitters,’ click ‘apply,’ watch as your bill is cut by half, then checkout as usual.

Please Don’t Make Me Regret This

You know how when you hear your own voice on a phone message or something you never think it sounds like you?  Yeah.  I just got a rather dramatic example of this.  I did an interview with the lovely Lara of Math4Knitters, and it’s just come out.  Lara sounds poised and professional.  I sound like a hyperactive chipmunk.  A hyperactive chipmunk with an unusual fondness for yarn, but still some sort of small mammal on helium.  If you’d like to witness in my shame, head over to Math4Knitters and have a listen (I sound a bit out of breath because I was still fending off the pneumonia, sorry about that).  There just happens to be a bit of a sale listed over there for folks who might be looking to pick up a few more patterns too.  Just on the off chance you happen to know anyone like that.
