All Year Long

I’m trying a little experiment.  From now through the end of the year, you can get 15% off anything in my ravelry shop with the code ALL YEAR LONG.  If you use that code, you’ll also get a series of 6 emails from me (one every other month, starting in February and running through 2016), each with some sort of special discount or sale.

AYLI’m not saying what they’ll be just yet, but they will only be available to folks who use the code now.  They’ll be our little secret, and I won’t be sending them to the regular mailing list or making them public on the blog or on ravelry.

There’s a tiny bit of fine print (not much, I promise), but there are two things you should know.  First, using the code won’t change anything about your mailing list subscription.  It won’t sign you up for the regular mailing list (if you want to do that, you can do it over here), and being on the regular mailing list doesn’t mean you’ll get these emails.  They’re totally separate things, and neither will affect the other.  Second, you must have access to the email address you use with paypal.  The emails will go to that address, so you need to be able to check that address to get them.  See, that’s not too hard as far as fine print goes!

So swing on by the shop, grab whatever Santa forgot, and I’ll see if I can’t sneak some fun things into your inbox next year!

ETA: I’ve been getting two questions about this little experiment, and thought I’d take a moment and see if I can help answer them.  The first (and easiest!) is ‘what’s that shawl?’  It’s actually a sneak peek at one of the pieces in Curls 2.  It doesn’t have a name just yet, but since I had all the pictures from the photo shoot, I thought I’d use this opportunity to show one off a bit! Look for it to come out in the summer.

The second is ‘can I use this on the paper books?’  That’s a bit harder.  There isn’t a good way for me to make coupon codes work on the paper books (if only the folks at paypal were half as clever and helpful as the folks at ravelry…I can do all sorts of things at ravelry that paypal doesn’t allow).  So I can’t make the discount apply to paper books.  But, if you really want a paper book, and really want to get the special emails, we can make that happen.  Just forward me the receipt you get from paypal showing you bought the book during this promotion, and tell me you’d like to be on the list (you can send it to hunter at violently domestic dot com).  I’ll confirm with you that I got your message and be sure you’re on the list.

Indie Gift-a-Long

I know, I know.  Two posts in one day, what is the world coming to?  But this is just a super quickie.  I’m dashing in to mention that the Indie Gift-a-Long starts tonight on ravelry.

What’s the Gift-a-Long you ask?  The short version is I, and hundreds of other designers, have picked some of our very favorite designs and put them all on sale.  You can see the 20 patterns I have on sale right here, and you can get 25% off them with the code: giftalong2014

gal 2014The slightly longer version (the one that explains all the games and prizes and timeframes and other helpful information) is over here. You totally want to check it out, because I’m not the only designer with things on sale (at last count, I think there were almost 300 of us).  This is going to be an awful lot of fun.  You totally want to play.  And, if any of my projects happen to find their way onto your needles over the course of the Gift-a-Long, I totally want to hear about it!

Older than you’ve ever been…

I have, once again, gotten older.  It seems to keep happening.  So far, I’m liking it.  I’m spending the day checking out new breakfast joints, making eggnog, and playing board games.  I hope you’re doing things you love just as much.  And, on the off chance one of those things is knitting, I’m having a birthday sale.

Now through December 27, 11:59pm eastern time, buy one pattern get one free.  To take advantage:

1) Visit my ravelry store find 2 things you like, and put them in your ravelry cart (be sure you’re using the add to cart button, not the buy it now button, because you have to have two things in your cart for it to work).

2) Once both patterns are in your cart, go to the checkout.

3) Hit the ‘use a coupon code’ button, type ‘BIRTHDAY’ in the little box, and hit ‘apply.’ The total will immediately update…if it doesn’t something has gone wrong…try again.

4) Hit ‘checkout now,’ go through the payment process, and enjoy your new patterns.

And yes, you can use the coupon more than once. Just start over at step 1 and pick 2 more patterns. Rinse and repeat until you’re set!

Thanksgiving Sale

I’ve been told I should have a Thanksgiving sale.  Since I’m nothing if not obliging, I thought I’d do just that.  How about some details!

From now through the end of the day on Tuesday, all my downloadable patterns are on sale.  You can get 10% off 1 item, 15% off 2 items, or 20% off 3 or more items.  It’s good for everything in my ravelry shop…individual patterns, small sets, and yes, even the books (Thanksgiving is the only time the e books are ever included in a sale).

Here’s how it works:

1) Go to my Ravelry shop, find the patterns you like, and add them to your cart (this only works if you add them to your ravelry cart).

2) Once you’ve got your cart loaded up and you’re ready to check out, click on the button that says ‘use a coupon code’ (it’s just to the left of the ‘checkout now’ button).

3) Enter your code.  If you’re getting 1 item, use ‘Turkey 1’ to get 10% off.  If you’re getting 2 items, use ‘Turkey 2’ to get 15% off.  If you’re getting 3 or more items, use ‘Turkey 3’ to get 20% off.

4) Hit ‘apply.’  Your discount will be shown immediately.  Double check that you see it, hit ‘checkout now,’ and finish up.

And, because I have an abiding soft spot in my heart for paper books, the physical books are on sale too.  From now through the end of Tuesday, all physical books are 20% off their regular price.  No special codes needed, just head over to Pantsville Press (or click on the book covers over there on the right) and you’ll see the special price!

Ne’er-Do-Well Knits

May I present Ne’er-Do-Well Knits: Make a Little Trouble.

ndw cover s

You guys have watched the patterns in this one come together over the last year or so, and you have not been shy about asking when they would be out (especially those cabled socks on the front, they seem to be a fave).  I kept saying ‘fall’ and ‘soon,’ and you were very gracious about waiting.  Well there’s no need to wait any more.  You can get the book now.

I am doing a little preorder, but it’s only for three days.  During those three days, you’ll get three dollars off the price of either the paper one or the electronic one, and you’ll get a coupon good for (almost) any of my individual patterns.  Then on Friday morning, the electronic version updates, the paper version goes in the mail, the price goes back to normal, and (hopefully) the knitting begins.

I’ll be back with info about the patterns and the book itself (and there might just possibly be a bit of yarn to give away too) over the next week or two.  But for now, go!  Grab it while it’s on sale.  We’ll chat again soon.

Knitty Pattern, Plus Sale!

Having a pattern in knitty is a funny thing.  You spend a long time knowing it’s coming (but not being allowed to talk about it), you know it will be great fun, but you never know quiiiiite when it will happen.  That’s the state I was in for the last several weeks, but after yesterday, the waiting is officially over.  May I present Deflect.

1

These were actually my dad’s birthday socks last year.  I finished them while The Boy and I were in Maine in October, and then shamelessly pressed The Boy into modeling them for a little photo shoot (when you have your very own handy beach, it would seem unwise not to use it).  Then I had to wait and wait and wait…first for the appropriate birthday, then for the socks to go live on knitty.

5

But now the waiting is over, and I think we should celebrate.  How about we do a little sale?  What about 50% off any individual pattern (that’s anything except the full books)?  So here’s how you do it:

  •  Go to my ravelry store, and put anything you want in your cart.
  • When you’re ready to check out, look for the button that says use a coupon code and click it.
  • Type in the word DEFLECT in the little box that popped up, and hit the button that says apply.  You’ll see the change in your total right away.
  • Check out like normal, and get knitting!

The coupon is good until the end of the day, eastern time, Tuesday September 17.  You can use it as many times as you like, and it works on anything except the full books!

And now, just because it feels good to finally share them after so much waiting, one more gratuitous sock shot!

Easier than Expected

Well, that went even better than expected.  The postman took all those packages (I harbored doubts…I imagined him taking one a day for the next few years or something equally dreadful).  But no, they all went!  I’ll be putting out more packages today and Friday, and then they’ll all be shipped!

And, because someone will come say ‘but I didn’t know!’ on Saturday and I’ll feel terribly guilty, here is the very last reminder.  Preorders end tomorrow.  Tomorrow morning.  As soon as I set the last package on the porch and have a cup of tea, I’ll come up here and turn them off.  That means if you want a discount plus a free pattern when you order, today is the last day to do it.  Go forth, click, get a good deal!

Balmy

As I write, we’re about 4 hours (and 4 inches) into a nice proper snowstorm.  (The picture was taken yesterday when the porch was free of snow.  At the moment, it’s rather a lot more snow-covered out there, and I feel no obligation at all to go out and document it for you.  You’ll have to use your imaginations instead.)  I’ll be alright though, as I have a lovely and hugely warm new hat.  See?

That, plus a bit of work on The Boy’s sock, was all my knitting over the birthday/holiday weekend.  The rest of the time was spent cooking, eating, playing board games (we got a new one called Morels that I will have to tell you about soon), and bringing order to the chaos of my knitting/craft closet.  The result was a very relaxing and enjoyable break, and I hope you all had just as much fun as I did.

One final reminder, the birthday buy one get one free sale expires tonight at 11:59 pm eastern time (scroll down to the Birthday Laze post for all the details).  You can still swoop in and take advantage if you’re in dire need of something to knit with any yarn you may have found in your stocking!

Birthday Laze

I am hard at work on the traditional birthday laze fest.  I am wearing warm wooly socks, eating tasty food, getting to know a new board game, and generally hibernating all tucked up at home with The Boy (which is exactly how I like to spend the day).  As is also traditional, I’m having a wee birthday sale.   Now through December 26, 11:59pm eastern time, buy one pattern get one free (everything except the books).  To take advantage:

1) Visit my ravelry store find 2 patterns you like, and put them in your ravelry cart (you have to use the ‘add to cart’ option, not the ‘buy it now’ option).

Next

In between the website upgrades, the movies, and the ice cream making, the weekend saw a bit of time for some actual knitting.  These are the newest sock on the needles and they will be for The Boy (he certainly deserves them after all the computer time he clocked over the last few days).

The yarn is String Theory Merino DK in the color Carina.  The Boy picked it out when we visited String Theory in October.  The color is lovely, and just the tiniest bit odd.  It looks like the yarn itself is yellow and in some spots it’s got blue sitting on top of the yellow.  Now that makes it sound horrible, while in reality it’s actually charming.  But it is awfully hard to photograph or describe.  And yes, it is thick for socks, but that’s what he wants (60 stitches for his big boy feet…makes for a quick sock).  With luck, they’ll be done in a week or two.

Oh, and in case you spent the weekend off the internet, remember that today is the last day of the Thanksgiving sale.  It all ends tonight at 11:59 eastern time, so now’s the time if you’re interested!
