So back in February (snowy, gray, dreary February, was it really only three months ago) I indulged my natural tendency to be a shameless tease.  I showed off a few pics of a sock I designed for Gaia’s Colours Sacred Sabbats Yarn Club.  It was exclusive to the club until yesterday, but now it’s available to everyone.

These are…well…these are totally inappropriate for Spring.  They’re all about Winter and fire and warmth and comfort and toughing out the last bit of cold weather.  But, no matter how unlikely it seems at the moment, Winter will eventually come again.  These sunny days will not last.  When Winter starts to bear down on you again, remember these are here now and come back for them.  If you’re the type to start early, you can find the pattern for Brigid now.

Such a Tease

imbolic4I warned you this was coming.

I really did.

There is a new sock.

It’s soft and warm and lovely.  I admit I’m biased, but I am fairly hopelessly smitten with it.  It’s all done…but you can’t have it quite yet.  It’s exclusive to Gaia’s Colours Sacred Sabbats Yarn Club members for the next three months.

I probably shouldn’t say anything.  It’s probably just mean to show you the pretty sock when I can’t give it to you just yet.  But today is the release date, and I’ve been keeping quiet for weeks and weeks.  Such silence is quite against my character.  I simply can’t suppress my natural tendencies any longer.  I have to show them off.

I’ll content myself with just one more picture for now, though I’ll likely come back and prattle about them more when they become available to everyone.

Fine Line

I must now attempt to walk that fine line between discretion and rashness.  Let’s see how I do.

I can tell you that I have a new sock pattern coming out.  That really shouldn’t be a surprise to any of you, and it certainly isn’t breaking any vows of secrecy.  I could probably also tell you that it’s for a sock club.  Now if you’ve ever looked into sock clubs, you likely know that they have only a limited number of spots, and that you have to sign up by a certain date.  So this leads me to believe that it might be ok if I were to mention which sock club it was.  You know, just so you’d have a chance to get a spot if you wanted one.  It’s also worth mentioning that you can buy into this club one month at a time, so there are no long term commitments.

Alas, I cannot tell you the details of the pattern, nor can I show you pictures of the socks themselves.  This is a great hardship.  I am completely taken with these socks.  I want fairly desperately to brag about them and tell you all about their nifty qualities.  Blasted confidentiality.  I will have to settle for telling you that they are marvelous, and I’m unreasonably pleased with them.  I can go into more detail once they make their official debut, but by then they won’t be available to non-club members!

So, if you want to take it on faith that they’re good, and you want to get your hands on some truly luxurious yarn in the process, head on over to Gaia’s Colours and look at the Imbolc/Candlemas installment of the Sacred Sabbats Yarn Club.  Club memberships are available through January 29.  I know it’s a leap of faith, but it might be worth a look!

Not Empty

Now for some actual knitting.  That empty box over there, the one under “On the Needles?”  It’s a lie.  The needles are not empty.  They are, in fact, quite full.  Alas, almost all the current knitting is secret, so I can’t show you pictures.  I’m realizing now that this was poor planning.  I can’t show you pretty pictures, but I can let you know a bit about the schedule and what you can expect to see over the next little while.

The next pattern you will see is part of Penny Rose’s Wicked Women yarn club.  While only club members will be able to get the particular yarn I used, everyone will be able to buy the pattern.  This one comes with its own fairy tale and a bonus history lesson.  It will be out in early to mid January.  I’ve finished my knitting, my marvelous testers have worked their magic, and The Boy spent a very amusing hour taking pictures of my feet yesterday, so this one is officially finished.  Now I just have to wait to show them off.  In the meantime, I’ll console myself by wearing them.

In February, you’ll see another sock club pattern, this time with Gaia’s Colours.  These will be exclusive to the club for a while, but I’ll torment you with photos and try and try to talk you into putting the public release on your calendars.  One sock is done, and the second is waiting for a few more yards of yarn.  Testers have the pattern, and I’m lovingly fondling the existing sock (it’s a super thick and wonderfully warm) while I wait to finish its mate.

There are two more secret projects on the needles, one for publication (yay) and one for another sock club, but they’re for a bit later in the year and must remain unmentionable for a while longer.  Some time very soon now (this week with any luck) the combined pattern for Crenellation will be available.  It was up in pieces for the KAL, but I wanted to redo it as a single download with pictures.

Nope, no empty needles around here.
