Rip it right out
I really hate ripping. A lot. More than you think. But I have also more or less convinced myself it’s better to rip early than to let something I know isn’t quite right sit there and taunt me. Which is why this couldn’t be let to stand.
I thought three plain rows between the start and the end of the little bloopy would be enough. It wasn’t. It was looking all scrunched up and smooshed. So I ripped it (and yes, ripping increases and decreases in brioche is every bit as fun as you might expect…but it is doable). And now it’s much much better.
And now I shall cruise happily along rather than muttering grimly under my breath and thinking I really should just fix it with every row.
I just took a sweater all the way back 12 inches because it took me that long to realize my mistake was always going to bother me. Oh well, live and learn.
I love how mistakes disappear and you get a total do-over when ripping knitting. Real life doesn’t let you go back in time and proceed with new information. There’s definitely a few moments I would rip and redo if I could. Just another way that knitting is awesome!
