Propitiate (plus giveaway)
Published On: July 31, 2018

I think we’re due for some socks, don’t you?  Propitiate are (back) out, and I have a feeling they’re the sort of socks that a lot of us sock knitters secretly most like to make (and wear).  They’re 10% off with the code COZY, and there’s yarn to give away, so read on!

There seem to be two sock factions.  There’s the Let’s Make This As Complicated As Possible camp (lace! and brioche! and quite possibly some beads! and three different colors of yarn! and they start in the middle of your foot and go together some really weird way!).  And then there’s the Yup, It’s A Sock, A Comfy, Cozy, Mellow Sock camp (I can knit this on a plane or in a waiting room or in front of the TV, I do not need absolute silence to figure out what’s going on! I know it fits great because I’ve knit a dozen other socks that go together like this and they’re always awesome! I can find my rhythm and get into a nice groove and before I know it, it’s done!).  And I don’t judge…there’s absolutely room for both groups!  The trick is knowing which you are (or, if you flit from one to the other, knowing which you’re feeling like today) and finding a pattern to match your vibe.

These are firmly Camp Cozy.  They’re not complicated, and they don’t pretend to be.  But they are comfy (ribbed socks always fit so well) and versatile (written in five sizes to fit just about anyone, and sedate enough to pass muster with the ‘no fancy socks please crowd if you use a quiet color).  And they’ve got just enough going on with that lovely little cable to keep you moving along (it can’t just be me…someone else has to be susceptible to the whole ‘let me just finish the next cable so I can see one more circle form’ thing too).  And they’re just more fun than they have any right to be (shhhh, don’t let on to the Camp Complicated folks, but Camp Cozy socks have an awful lot going for them)!

These are made out of Knit One, Crochet Too’s Crock-o-Dye yarn, and it’s great for socks.  It’s a superwash merino, nylon, and silk blend, and all those fibers have a job to do. The superwash merino makes it easy care, the nylon and silk both make it sturdy, and the silk gives it just a hint of sheen.  The combo is great!  I’ve got three extra skeins of yarn, and that means I can send happy mail off to three different folks.

I’ll give one away here (leave a comment on this post telling me if you’re Camp Complicated or Camp Cozy for your socks to enter here) and give two away on instagram.

And since I can’t send yarn to everyone, I’ll have to make do with giving everyone a little discount code instead. You can use the code COZY until the end of the day, Friday August 3 (eastern time) to take 10% off these socks.

Comments left between now and the end of the day (eastern time) Friday, August 3, 2018 will be entered to win.  I’ll pick a winner, contact them to get their addresses, and arrange to send the yarn their way.  Be sure to use a real email address so I can contact you if you’ve won (I won’t do anything with those email addresses besides notify the winner).  If I do email you, I need to hear back from you within 72 hours or I will pick a new winner and contact them.  This is open to adults anywhere in the world, but I need a US mailing address to send yarn to.  And someone will ask, so my plan is to notify the blog, instagram, and twitter winners at as close to the same time as I can and then let who ever answers first have first pick of all three colors, then the next person gets to pick from the other two, and whoever answers last gets the last one.  Fairest way I can think to do it!
