Ostensibly (plus giveaway)
Published On: June 19, 2018

I’m a grown up. I am. I have the paperwork to prove it. But somehow…somehow my reaction to this hat makes me question just how much of an adult I really am.  It’s called Ostensibly, and you can get it on ravelry for 10% off with the code ALLEGED.

I can’t decide if it’s the rainbow colors, or the pompom (or the other pompom, or the other other pompom), or the blatant refusal to weave in my ends, but this one feels like about the farthest thing from being grown up I can imagine.

And I’m not even a little bit sorry.  Nope, not one bit.  If you have to pick somewhere to flagrantly flout responsible adulthood, your knitting is probably a fine choice.  And I’m more than happy to help you do it!

The pattern has all the bits you’d expect (like how to make the hat), but also includes info on all the not-so-grown up things I love about it…how to make all three of those pompoms (and how to make them detachable) and how to braid your ends instead of weaving them in.  There’s even some discussion of how to sub in slightly more subdued colors if you’re in the mood for something more sedate.

But, for those of you loving the colors, I’m going to make one of you very happy. Rachel over at Ontheround is going to send yarn off to a lucky someone.  I used her Everyday DK in Silver Lining Tweed for the background, and the Everyday Lite in Silver Lining Rainbow for the contrast.  She’ll send someone yarn to do the same.  All you need to do to enter is leave a comment telling me the most colorful thing you ever knit.  Are you a fan of neon socks? Outrageous hats? Do you have a scrap yarn blanket on the needles?  There’s no right or wrong answer, I just like to know what you guys make!

And for everyone I can’t send yarn to, you can get Ostensibly for 10% off with the code ALLEGED. Just put Ostensibly in your ravelry cart, click on the ‘use a coupon code’ button, and type in the code ALLEGED.  You’ll see the change in price reflected right away.

Comments left between now and the end of the day (eastern time) Friday, June 22, 2018 will be entered to win.  I’ll pick a winner, contact them to get their addresses, and arrange to send the yarn their way.  Be sure to use a real email address so I can contact you if you’ve won (I won’t do anything with those email addresses besides notify the winner).  If I do email you, I need to hear back from you within 72 hours or I will pick a new winner and contact them.  This is open to people anywhere in the world, but I need a US mailing address to send yarn to.
