This should be fun…
The yarn fairy came (Skinny Singles by Hedgehog Fibres in Ghost, I got mine from Eat Sleep Knit).
And then this happened…this is a fairly normal thing.
And thin this happened…and that is not at all normal.
Yes, yes I am trying again to make something on circs (these, as always, amazon links are affiliate links). We’ll see how that works out. Generally it leads to muttering which quickly progresses to swearing and throwing things. But I don’t have any long DPNs in that size (please, for the love of wool, if you make 12-14 inch DPNs in sizes 2, 3, or 4, let me know…I’ll love you forever). So I’m giving it a try. But I fully expect to revert to 6 short DPNs if things go pear-shaped.
I use long DPNs with my knitting belt and purchased metric size 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 from June Hemmons Hiatt at the following link.

Unfortunately, according to the shop link (below), the store is closed until Dec. 29.

Otherwise, those metric sizes are available from several UK dealers, again because they’re used with knitting belts.
Here’s to hoping you can make peace with the circulars.
Ooooh, I will have to investigate, thank you!
I find the ChiaoGoo cords can be pretty stiff, so that makes them not my favorite. maybe you’d like these better? https://www.amazon.com/addi-Rockets-Circular-Knitting-775-40-02/dp/B00CNV4M30/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1513605084&sr=8-5&keywords=addi+turbo+circular+knitting+needles
BEWARE — it seems addi has slightly different sizing, so i always look at the mm instead of the US size just to make sure i’m getting what i want!!
Oh that’s good to know, thank you!
Lacis sells 16″ DPNs. They have one of the worst Websites out there, so here’s how you find them: Go to http://lacis.com/catalog/ . Then, in the left column (yes, really), click on Needlework Techniques (yes, really). THEN, in the left column, click on Knitting. Yes, really. Once you get to that exceedingly long list of items (no pictures, that would be too easy), do a page search (Ctrl-f on a non-Mac, Command-f on a Mac) on the word “Shetland” .
Oh that’s super helpful, thank you so much!
Whatever needles you end up using, it’s got to be a lovely project with that yarn involved! I can’t wait to see what you make of it.
One other thought on circulars. If cord flexibility has been the issue for you, then I highly recommend the ChiaoGoo Mini Twist cords. They are super thin and flexible, much more so than the regular ChiaoGoo cords.
I bought a mini interchangeable set (US 000 – 1.5, which translates to 1.5mm, 1.75mm, 2.0mm, 2.25mm and 2.5mm) for sock knitting and then also purchased a set of adapters plus my desired larger tips so I could use larger needle sizes with the thin, flexible cords. Links follow.

The adapters for larger needle tips:

The larger tips come in 4-inch and 5-inch lengths. You’d want the ones labeled “S” in the dropdown.
