Swatching swatching swatching
It really is shocking just how much of my knitting is actually swatching.
Because sometimes, the thing you think will be lovely just isn’t quite right. But I promise it’s better to rip it out and try again than to push on with an unsuitable pairing.
And sometimes what doesn’t work with one colorway will be just fine with that same base, just in another color. Which is why you’ll be seeing those leaves again, just in a rather more subdued gray, in the not too distant future…
Just to clarify, which are you unhappy with? I think the basket weave swatch on top looks terrific!
Eeeh…I just didn’t like it. The colorway was too busy on the purl side for what I had in mind. Nice stitch…nice yarn…just not a good pairing (for what I want to use it for).
Why is that what you call “swatching”, we call “teasing”? Is it because we just can’t wait to see the fabulous patterns that your swatches foreshadow? Yup, that’s it!
It feels extra virtuous if it’s doing double duty, too! Like you get to know the yarn, you start seeing how it behaves, and you get to tempt other folks with how lovely it is!
I love the artistry in your knitting Hunter, it really feels like you are drawing with the yarn, which I admire, being someone who rarely deviates from following a pattern 🙂
