Departures
We made herb salt this week. If you’ve been around for a while (and if you pay alarmingly close attention to the nonsense I get up to), you may be thinking it’s a bit early for such a thing. And this is totally true…we usually wait until October or even November for this project.
But this year? This year that’s not an option. We’re moving this week (the movers come Friday), and if we wanted to have a batch this year, this was the moment.
We’ve finally managed to pull off that move to Maine we’ve been working on (we’ve been going on vacation since 2012…it seemed more efficient to just give in and move there). So I’m going to be a little bit quiet for a few days while we get everything all sorted out…but in a week or so I should be all settled in at the new place and back to a more normal schedule (with lots of shiny new backdrops for knitting pictures)!
Happy moving to you and the kitties!
Thank you! I’m hoping the kitties won’t be too stressed (we’re going to give them some meds and hopefully they just sleep for most of the drive). I…on the other hand…well let’s just say I hope this is the last move for a long time!
Congrats! If you are not too far from the Mass border you are welcome to join our knitting group!
Oh that’s very kind, thank you! We’re a couple of hours away, but I should totally find a knitting group…
Seriously! You’re moving to my state? Where abouts?

Welcome to New England. You do realize that it gets cold here in these parts in the winter 🙂
Hah, so does Cleveland (and we like the cold)!
Welcome to Maine! Sounds like you’ll be getting here just in time for foliage season which is predicted to be glorious this year. When you’ve gathered in all that inspiring burst of color, Maine is a great place to winter over knitting by the fire. Can’t wait to see all the new books and patterns you’ll come up with living here.
Adding, I bet you will like Quebecois herbes salees, herb salt with vegetable like carrots, celery, and onions added, traditional in the French speaking communities here in Maine. You can find recipes for it on the internet. Another way of saving color and flavor for the winter.
We’re totally looking forward to tucking up and being cozy and just relaxing for a bit (it’s been a busy summer)!
As always, your photography is gorgeous. Even of such mundane items as herbs & salt. 🙂
I wish you all a safe, smooth, and uneventful move. 🙂
Oh thank you!
You are living my dream. Congratulations! (and tell Maine I still love it)
