Oh hey, that looks rather like a hat…
I think it’s done. Of course I’m going to put the stitches on a safety pin or two and wear it around for an hour to make sure I don’t want it any taller before I break the yarn (totally normal around these parts). But I *think* it’s done!
Pattern should be out soon (meaning ‘this winter’ not ‘this week’). If you want to hear from me when it comes out, you can make that happen over here!
I love this stitch pattern- I want a hat, a cowl, mitts and a cardigan in it. It’s so so pretty and it reminds me of tiny plants somehow. I’ll save a set space at the top of my queue for this beauty.
So, it’s a yarn HOG. Those long loops happen on the front and the back, which makes for a lovely dense fabric…that takes at least 1/3 more yarn than you’d expect. As in, I was eyeing the 400 yard skein with a bit of a nervous feeling as I got to the end of a hat.
So while you totally could make a cardigan (and it would be a delight), if you wanted to do it all over it would be a LOT of yarn (and warm as blazes too).
I also love the motifs! Hope that stitch isn’t too fiddly! *wink*
Eh…medium fiddly. I mean half the rows it’s just ribbing. And most of the others, it’s modified ribbing. But there is one row where you have to do a little something special that will seem awkward at first, but after a few times it’s easy sailing.
It’s such a beautiful hat. Well worth the extra yardage. Already signed up for notification when the pattern is available.
I think its one of the coolest things you’ve done!
