Nearly there
Little mitts on thicker yarn have some distinct advantages. They’re cozy as can be, and done in a flash. I’m pretty sure this took about five minutes.
And now of course it will take me about six weeks to finish the thumb and get around to weaving in the ends… But that’s a whole separate issue and best not thought about now!
I’ve totally loved making these, but man is it time to get something in my more customary colors on the needles. All this brightness is starting to get to me. I’m thinking another pair of slippers. And speaking of, those blue slippers everyone was so excited for are coming out on Tuesday! If you want a reminder (and a coupon) when they come out, be sure you’re on the mailing list!
Slippers, yay!!
I don’t mind rolled edges, really, though I think they look like the lazy way out on sweaters. It’s the look I mind, not the knitting or wearing, and it doesn’t bother me so much on accessories.
I’ve also found that I love knitting fingerless mitts, but I’m not so crazy about knitting thumbs. (Guess I won’t be doing gloves any time soon, lol.) I need to look around for a fingerless mitts pattern that has a gusset but stops before attaching yarn to do the rest of the thumb.
I do love those colors together. 🙂
And again, yay slippers! 🙂
The mitts are cute, and I’ve been waiting for those slippers!
Could you refresh my memory — what yarn did you use for the slippers? I’d like to toss the stash in anticipation of the pattern release. Or, order the appropriate weight if I don’t have any…
Caper Aran, the yarn in which the sample was knit, is sadly discontinued. But I have it on good authority that Indigodragonfly’s MerGoat Worsted uses the same base, and I know for sure that they do lovely, hand-dyed colors that would be a great match for the pattern!
Every time I see a picture of Mitten 1, I wonder what the pin is for at the base of the thumb. Is this a Mitten Thumb Thing I’ve missed?
Thanks much, and I LOVE those colors together.
Oh, I just put it there on the last round I knit before I set stitches aside for the thumb. Makes it easy to count how many rows I did after the thumb increases and before I set the thumb stitches aside, and to count how many rows I did for the thumb!
Just a little visual reminder to make it easier not to take notes…
Oh Hunter! Nice mitts and slippers! What are we to do with all your gorgeous designs we have to knit? Must have an excuse from you for leave for my employer…
