Underway
Second hat, underway!
In the end, I decided I wanted to do something a little different from either of the swatches. I think it’s going to work out very nicely indeed. I’ll get back to you in a few more rows when it starts to joggle back the other way.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m doing something scandalous and taking the weekend off. But come Tuesday morning, I’ll be bringing out that lovely gray and purple hat and mitts set I’m so taken with. I promise lots of proper photos of them then (and none of my feet), but for now I thought I’d stick with one that shows that both I and the knitting were racing the tide on the photoshoot for this one…a few minutes later and that rock was totally underwater!

I’m absolutely helpless when it comes to resisting wild colored yarn. This year I actually went to a fiber festival in Pittsburg (3 1/2 hour drive) just to buy some wild colored yarn from a vendor who had run out of it in Rhinbeck last year. Of course I stayed the weekend, took some classes from national teachers AND was pleasantly surprised to see Karen there. I bought some of her yarn and absolutely love it!
I love what you did with the wild-colored sock yarn and the Chicadee. What a great way to show off the yarn. Thanks for such a great idea.
I LOVE wild, bright, gorgeous coloured yarn. I’m constantly adding them to my online cart… Then not checking out because I’m not sure what to do with it! Or because I’m not sure it’ll be as fantastic in person. I may have to try out this hat pattern.
The beauty of multicolored yarn is that it can reflect the nuances of color from nature or bright crazy combinations that reflect the everyday world. My preference is for the more subtle combinations–they’re the ones that speak to me and I have to have them (this is the point where want and need amount to the same thing!). I will follow a great dyer to the end of the earth. The trick then is to find the right pattern to enhance their beauty.
I absolutely love this yarn pairing!! These color speak to me and touch my soul ! I was flipping through instagram looking for a friend’s post and was like wa it what was that….. scrolled back up found it, found you, found your blog and here I am ! I rarely see things that I could see myself in, I’m a knitter that knits for gifts. If you know me or have met me and we are in the same circle you probably have a hat I made or you will soon have one. Hehe…. well thanks for the blog, you have a new reader and a new ig follower! Sincerely Shelley Caba … shabbknits on ravery! Have a lovely day !
I do love the look of multicoloured yarn, but I actually prefer knitting with solid or semisolid yarn most of the time. Well, except for socks – they can be very colourful! Of couse I can’t always resist buying multicoloured yarn and I think pairing it it with a solid colour is a great way to use it!
