Languish
It’s time to finish these up. Well no. It’s been time to finish them up for about nine months now. I got this yarn last May, cast on more or less right away, knit one sock with all good speed, knit part of the next sock, wrote the pattern, got it out (with the help of some super duper sample knitters), and then let the half finished second sock sit in the knitting basket for an age. The last sign I can find of it on the blog is July.
Well this weekend I picked it up, banged out 30 rows or so, and am now about 15 rows and a toe from done. That really should be about 2-3 hours of knitting at the most. If you see me knitting anything besides this (cough, book swatches don’t count, cough), gently take my knitting away and point me back toward the sock.
Isn’t it kind of funny which pair may get stuck on our needles for a long time for no reason other than we have more exciting things to knit? There’s a pair of Vandals on my needles that may take me 2 years while they’re a gorgeous green DK and I love to knit leaves! There’s no explaining that…. : )
Changeful is a lovely pattern. I can’t wait to see your finished version. the color is way cool.
Why not knit your socks two at a time? That way you never have second sock syndrome.
I’m almost always designing while I’m knitting, and that means I may make rather a lot of changes as I go. If I were to do two at a time, I’d end up ripping back and reknitting twice the stitches. That, and I really really really hate knitting on circs!
I would love to know the brand of yarn you used. The pattern is great and so is the yarn. Thank you in advance!
It’s from a company called Yarn Daze, but the specific one I had isn’t on their website or on ravelry. I have to put in a bit of a warning. The two skeins I got are strongly *strongly* perfumed (I got them at an out door fiber show and couldn’t tell at the time). I had to wash the yarn a dozen times and hang it outside for days before I could work with it. I’d be very very very cautious about using this yarn if you’re at all sensitive to fragrance. It’s lovely, but even now when I soaked it to block it, I caught a whiff of the old perfume.
