New Skills
Bear in mind I know nothing at all about colorwork. This is the first proper project I’ve even sort of tried it on. But with that in mind, I really do rather like how this is coming out (I’d take it as a kindness if you’d refrain from telling me all the things I’m doing wrong…I’m just enjoying the pretty for now, I’ll learn what I should be doing later).
I’m starting with the wee spikes all nestled up close to one another. Then after a while they start drifting farther and farther apart.
Assuming this relaxes and evens out when I block it (and I can’t see why it wouldn’t, the swatch totally did), I think I’m in love. I still don’t know what the heck I’m doing, but I’m having fun.
Absolutely gorgeous!! You may have convinced me to give color work another try!
I can’t wait to see how you did that cluster in colorwork. So freakin pretty!
Just beautiful. Great job!
It looks great – you’ve invented a beautiful new technique of your own 🙂
Oh I’m sure I’m not the first/only one to do this! It’s easy enough someone else must have done it before.
I LOVE the idea of spikes that start all together and then spread out. They remind me of stars! : )
Did you say this is a cowl or hat or…?
Hat! Though there may be a few other pieces, depending on how much of my nefarious plot I can bring to life…
Pish. Do you get fabric you like? Does it hold together when off the needles?
You’re doing it right.
So there, knitting police!!
I like this approach!
Love love love both the pattern and colors. Would love a pattern please. Or at least tell us what is the stitch pattern. Looking forward to the finished item.
Yup, there will be a pattern down the road! But I’m working with the yarn company to get a few other versions knit (so there will be a bunch of ways to make it). It should be awesome, but it does take a while to get it done. Pattern should be out late this year!
As long as you are happy with it you are golden. Really looking forward to this pattern coming out!
I love the yarn colors and the pattern! Do you have more information? The pattern instructions? The yarn colors/manufacturer?
The pattern is up on ravelry (and yarn info is there too). Often, especially on posts like this that are a few years old, the pattern has already come out. You can always find my patterns by clicking on patterns in the menu in the top corner of the screen.
I’m trying to find this pattern, and it seems that I’ve looked at all your patterns on Ravelry but still not seeing it.
It’s this one over here! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/permutation
Just beautiful… looking forward to the pattern
Just looking at some of the stuff you’ve designed and made….WOW!! You’re amazing! I am just so full of admiration for the beauty and originality of your work. Here’s wishing you a super 2021 full of great yarn, more wonderful ideas and of course health and happiness for you and yours! Thank you for making my day.
