Be Honest
This is the whole reason we knit hats, right? Tell me it’s not just me. I can’t be the only one entertained by the swirls.
And I’m still undecided as to which side I like better That one up there is the outside while I’m knitting it, but the inside looks kind of nifty, too.
I also still have some yarn left, so I suspect there is going to be a companion piece for this. Any strong opinions on whether you’d rather have a coordinating hat or a cuff? I could totally go either way.
I love the swirls. How about swirly cuffs?
Well now to be realistic, the swirls are created by the decreases you do at the top of a hat. And cuffs won’t have those decreases, and so won’t have a swirl. They would use the same stitch as the body of the hat, and they would maybe mirror some of the shaping in the thumb gusset, but they wouldn’t swirl.
Yes, swirly cuffs!!
Make it 3 for swirly cuffs!
Swirly cuffs sound good to me!
I’d go for a cowl!
swirly cowl?
I second the idea of a cowl!
Cuffs!!! : )
I would rather have a cowl, but there is the similar problem of no decreases. Either way, if you need a tester for this, pick me, pick me! I love your reversible patterns 🙂
Another hat with the shaping swirling differently?
I love your hats so I am going to vote strongly on a HAT!
Yup, totally mesmerized by the swirl. <3
I think a cowl and/or cuffs with a semi-swirl would do the trick.
The stitches could travel across and then have a cable twist in the middle, and then travel back across the other way.
Like looking down on the hat, and only doing the north and south direction…
Or just the lovely hat is plenty, if your brain is not interested in planning and calculating! 🙂
No opinion on right side/wrong side – I just love that hat!
I knit hats for chemo patients and that would be a * perfect * chemo cap.
Can’t wait for you to release it.
Cuffs. Totally cuffs.
Definitely not the only one entertained by swirls, nope. It sounds like the blog has thrown you a challenge of sorts: figure out how to make a cuff swirl. Perhaps increases, traveling stitches, then decreases. Who knows? But I’m pretty sure you might be able to come up with something!
Another one here fascinated with the top of hat swirls, I’ve bought patterns just because of the top-down photo.
Another vote for a coordinating cowl if there is enough yarn. That looks like a nice warm hat & cuffs wouldn’t be enough to keep my fingers warm!
Another vote for swirly cowl. I bet you could do it with traveling stitches and inc/dec combinations. The swirl doesn’t need to meet in the middle anywhere, just travel around the neck, like they do on the hat before you actually start decreasing.
Ok, now I also want to know how these will look in fluffy open yarn, that doesn’t show stitch definitions as well, lol. 🙂
