That’s better
So the hat? The one that tried to be all dark blue and made from skinny yarn last time? It turns out it is indeed much happier on the lighter, thicker yarn. It’s quite happy indeed. The only surprise is how much I like the inside of this one. I like it enough I may not be able to decide which is officially the outside. (Yes yes, this is not exactly a crushing problem to have.) What do you guys think?
Actually, how do you feel about reversible patterns in general? I know I did Irresolute as a reversible set (and The Boy and I still differ as to which side is the prettiest), and several of the curls are reversible (especially Filemot and Pavonated, but several of the others too). But do you guys actually ever flip stuff around? Or do you just pick a favorite and call it done? Does it only matter for scarves/shawls? Or not even there? Totally curious about how other folks feel about this!
I see what you mean, I sort of like it too. I wonder how both will look stretched out over a head?
I like both hats but definitely prefer the first one.
I like to knit reversible patterns. It’s always nice for a shawl to look great on both sides. But how often does that happen.
I wear my Pavonated both ways. I love that both sides look good.
And, having fought my husband several times wearing his cabled hat inside-out (yes, really!), I actively look for two-sided hat patterns when I’m knitting gifts.
I haven’t done any reversible patterns yet. And I do like the inside of this hat the best. Nice architectural lines.
I love reversible patterns, and whether or not I flip them depends entirely on the item and the pattern. In particular I hate non-reversible scarves. Shawls I can live with, but I still prefer them to be reversible.
I like reversibility, but sometimes it’s beyond my invisible finishing skills.
Ooh, I like the second one! More contrast, I think. D likes his Pavonated either way.
In general, I like the idea. Shawls, yes, it’s nice if I don’t have to fuss when I put one on. I don’t care much about socks, though I keep meaning to double up on toes because my big toes try to poke through.
I knitted Itineris (Ravelry) and it’s beautiful on both sides too. I prefer the “wrong” side but my mother likes the “right” side best. Hahaha!
Love that both sides look so great! The yarn is so beautiful – another hat please!
LOVE reversible patterns. Also that stitch pattern would be amazing as a pair of fingerless gloves.
I definitely like reversible clothing items, for the ease of wearing and caring. 🙂 They’re fun to knit, too.
Reversibility in a pattern is not really a selling point to me. It’s nice in a scarf, but not necessary. I don’t particularly care about it in a shawl b/c mine always tend to stay more-or-less in place where I put them. It seems a bit pointless to me in other accessories, as I will always wear them one way out.
I often find that the reverse side of a garment is surprisingly perfect — when working stockinette with highly variagated yarns the reverse side can look more interesting; and exposed seams can become ornament, instead of lumpy and chafing when hidden inside.
