Sybaritic (plus giveaway)
Remember Sybaritic? I know at least some of you do! You’ve been asking about them ever since I took my early patterns down for a revamp. Well now they’re back and better than ever (new pictures, new charts, new layout, and an extra size).
I realize I likely shouldn’t be hopelessly smitten by leaves. They’re not hard to knit and don’t require too much special attention. But oh my are they awfully cute on this sock. The one on the top of the foot just about does me in every time. I suspect you’ll be fond of it, too.
For the re-release, they’ve been freshly knit in the always-delicious Caper Sock from String Theory. My love affair with String Theory is long standing and well documented, and Caper Sock was the perfect choice for these. The colors are just subtle enough to show off all your fancy stitches, but rich enough to be lovely all on their own.
And because I love you and want you to be happy, I’ve got a skein of Caper Sock in the color Melon to send off to one of you. Just leave a comment telling me how you feel about leafy knits for a chance to win.
Now I can’t send yarn home with all of you, but I can give everyone a bit of a discount. use the code LEAVES to get a dollar off the price between now and Friday. Just put Sybaritic in your ravelry cart, click on the ‘use a coupon code’ button, and type in the code LEAVES. You’ll see the change in price reflected right away.
Comments left between now and the end of the day (eastern time) Friday, May 22, 2015 will be entered to win. I’ll pick a winner, contact them to get their addresses, and arrange to send yarn their way. Be sure to use a real email address so I can contact you if you’ve won (I won’t do anything with those email addresses besides notify the winner). If I do email you, I need to hear back from you within 72 hours or I will pick a new winner and contact them. Sorry, but I can only ship physical prizes to US addresses.
Oh my, these are so pretty! And I love String Theory’s colorways (and sciency name.)
I also really like leaves in knits! But I think I’ve only used them in shawls thus far. To put them in a sock! Lovely.
Leaves have always been a huge weakness for me-I see a pattern with leaves (sweater, scarf, hat, sock–I’ve done them all), and suddenly it hops to the top of my queue! Many String Theory Caper sock is my absolute favorite yarn. I know that I raved about it to you years ago; was I perhaps the source of your love affair with String Theory? Hoping that I’ll be lucky with this drawing….
I adore knitting leaves ; socks, shawls, hats, you name it ! Caper sock yarn is one of my favorites.
Leaves…probably my favorite all-time knitting motif! These socks are to die for gorgeous. I have never knit with String Theory yarn and would really like to try it!
Leaves + a HH sock pattern + a lovely skein of yarn – love!!! Happy your pattern is back Hunter!
First off, I love the pattern. Very soothing to the eyes. Leaves (or anything nature motif) are interesting in knits. There so many ways to make them in knitting – lace, cables, knit/purl – and each are beautiful in their own way.
As a new Hunter fan — this was a new pattern for me. LOVE the leaf motif down the side of the foot. Pick me pick me!
I’ve made quite a few items with leaves, and they’re such a relaxing knit for me. Lovely socks, too, and you’re right – the one on the top of the foot is too cute!
I’ve loved leaves in knits ever since I saw my grandmother’s knitting, chock full of leaves — sweaters, pillows, you name it. I agree wholeheartedly that the leaf on top of the foot is a huge thrill!
Ooh! Ooh! String Theory!!! Pleeeeease pick me!
Love HH patterns and can’t wait to start these beauties on my new needles!! Thanks, Hunter, for updating your (already) gorgeous patterns 🙂
Leafy knits are more fun to knit than to wear imo. The leaves show up beautifully in these lovely socks, but that’s not always the case in many garments.
I love leafy knits. This sock pattern is really interesting and I’d love to knit it.

I’m in a master gardener program and anytime I can wear vegitation related garments, I get comments on them, especially if I’ve made them. This is why I bought your first book!
I love leafy knits! but I nearly always knit them in some shade of green. : )
Thanks for the give-away! The color is so rich. I love leaves, their shapes, colors, and smells!
I am in love with this pattern. and melon is a wonderful colorway
What’s not to love about leaves? It’s springtime here in IL and everything is turning green with leaves. I love leaves so much that one of my favorite quilts is called Twiggy and it is practically 100% leaves! I should have a pair of socks with leaves too, don’t you think???? 😉
I love nature reflected in my knits and leaves are a great way to do that!
Love leaves in patterns! There’s just something about them that soothes my soul.
I love these socks. The design of not all over leaves but several around the cuff and then one falling further down is gorgeous. I know it was a hard year for the northeastern US, but it was a difficult year for us in northern California. The rains just didn’t come. Already trees are browning and there is no growth from the ends of the trees. The leaves and new growth are closer to the core. This spring I am wearing my leaf socks and shawls as often as possible. With the drought, we have to decide which trees and plants will live and which will be sacrificed.
String Theory Virgin, and it is about time to change that.
I don’t think I have ever made anything with leaves in it, except for the Leftie shawl (if those count as leaves). I do love the look of leaves in knitted items though.
I’ve always thought this pattern amazing.
The pattern and yarn seem perfect together. Would be nice to cast on with some Caper!
I love leaves in knitting, too! They are curved, flowing, and feel alive. Beautiful in your socks!!
