Complect (plus giveaway)
Published On: January 5, 2015

The pattern for Complect, the lovely twisty cabled socks, is now up on ravelry.  I’m smitten with them, so I’m going to indulge in some pictures, then we’ll do that useful information thing (complete with handy dandy yarn giveaway, so do read on).

complect mainThese hit that perfect knitter sweet spot for me…there is enough going on to keep your interest, but not so much that they’re hard.  They are appealing to both guys and girls.  And they work in a bunch of yarns (the pattern is written for gauges of 7, 8, and 9 stitches per inch, so you’ve got a ton of flexibility).  There’s really not much more you could ask for!

complect 2I’m sure it’s immodest, but I really do think they’re kind of charming.  And a big part of that comes from the yarn.  I used Pediboo Sport Tonal by Frog Tree in the color 1464.  It’s an 80% superwash merino, 20% bamboo blend spun up into a lovely, bouncy, round yarn and then dyed with delightful, subtle variations.  It was a delight to work with, and I’ve come to adore it.  It’s is pretty much a perfect fat sock yarn (though really, it would work for a huge range of things if fat socks aren’t your cup of tea).  And I’m going to send some of it to one of you so you can get to adore it too!

So, as I mentioned, it’s a grand fat sock yarn.  So, if you’d like to win two skeins of this yarn for yourself, just leave a comment telling me how you feel about fat socks.  Love them (so quick and cozy)?  More a fan of skinny socks (I won’t judge)?  New to the ways of fat socks and haven’t had a chance to try them yet (I have a suggestion…)?  There’s no right or wrong answer, just tell me what you think!

Comments left between now and the end of the day (eastern time) Saturday, January 10, 2015 will be entered to win.  I’ll pick a winner, contact them to get their addresses, and arrange to send yarn their way.  Be sure to use a real email address so I can contact you if you’ve won (I won’t do anything with those email addresses besides notify the winner).  If I do email you, I need to hear back from you within 72 hours or I will pick a new winner and contact them.  Sorry, but I can only send prizes to US addresses. complect 3
