Gridelin & Baah (giveaway)
You know how sometimes a yarn and a pattern combine just right to produce a project that’s more than the sum of its parts? That totally happened here. The yarn and the stitch seem more or less meant for each other. The pairing produces fabric that looks almost like it was carved in stone. The stitch definition is fantastic, and the resulting fabric looks almost etched. The contrast between the crisp stitches and the soft, snuggly fabric is marvelous.
Much of the credit for this has to go to the delightful yarn from Baah. The color is beautifully subdued – almost a solid, but with just enough variegation to produce a delightful depth. And the three-ply structure makes for marvelously sculpted stitches that show off your work beautifully. It really is a marvelously well-behaved yarn and great fun to work with.
And one of you lucky folks is going to find out just how much fun it is. The lovely people at Baah are giving one of you two skeins of Sonoma to make this project yourself! To enter, just leave a comment telling me which of their delicious colors you’d like most, and it might be yours. I used Lavender for the book, but you can pick whatever you’d like!
Comments left between now and the end of the day (eastern time) Thursday, November 27th, 2014 will be entered to win. I’ll pick a winner, contact them to get their addresses, and arrange to get the goodies to them. When you leave a comment, be sure to use a real email address so I can contact you if you’ve won (I won’t do anything with those email addresses besides notify the winner). If I do get in touch with you, I need to hear back from you within 72 hours or I will pick a new winner and contact them.
Burmese Ruby – it’s pretty much the perfect red.
Raspberry Toffee is gorgeous.
Oooh, Grey Onyx!
I love Grey Onyx too!
I see what you mean about the colours. Woah those are such beautiful colourways. I can’t pick between Raspberry Toffee and Chocolate Cherries.
I also love how versatile your Curls patterns look.
Singin’ The Blues. Oh my. (And there I go with the blues/greens obsession – again.)
All the colours are amazing, so intense! I’ve just spent half an hour ogling them and my favourite keeps changing. But I’m going to pick Chocolate Cherries – just gorgeous.
I’m ready for a wonderful bright color -my sweet valentine is perfect!!
Oh, such beautiful yarn. I love (in order on the page) London Blue, Winter Berry, and Raspberry Toffee but I have a lot of blue, purple, and red in my stash and I’m not sure such bold colours would suit the stitch pattern, so I think I’d pick Emerald Isle.
Thanks to you and Baah for this great opportunity. I love so many but and trying to stay away from the palette I always gravitate to. So, Night Sky is my first choice.
I really appreciate you describing the yarn characteristics and why they work for this stitch pattern. I cannot wait for the book to release and for the paper version to come in the mail.
Ooh! I’ve been looking for the right shade of turquoise for a scarf for some time, and there it is – Mystique if I’m the lucky winner please!
i love the colour way grey onyx looks like such a nice yarn to try
Thanks for the opportunity to try this new to me yarn. I love the champagne colorway.
Garnet looks lovely. That’s the one for me and thank you for sharing.
Baia. Such beautiful colors. Thanks for the intro to Baah Yarns.
Oh, blue iris, please! So lovely!
So many gorgeous colors! I think Blue Iris is my favorite.
My 7 month old loves anything red. I think he would trade all of his toys for the chance to hold Burmese Ruby.
For myself I would choose gray onyx BUUUUUUT since I will be making several of your Curls for a wedding party, I think Aubergine would be perfect! Thank you for the opportunity to win such beautiful yarn!!!
Really lovely colors-I hadn’t heard of this yarn before. It was tough but I narrowed it down to 4: cape cod, Byzantine gold, California poppy and lavender .
Oh my! So many lovely choices. I’d start with the chocolate cherries.
I’m loving the Night Sky, Orange Amber, and Iris colors!
I love Champagne – of course that’s perfect for me. As they say I have Champagne taste but am on a beer budget.
Today I am loving the Byzantine gold! But really, this company has such great rich colors.
Oh, it is hard to chose but for some reason my eye keeps coming back to Orange Amber.
Congrats on the new book!
