Pattern Spotlight and Yarn Giveaway
Picking yarns for a book is an odd task. It’s both surprisingly hard (there are so many choices that the pressure to find the one perfect yarn can be a bit overwhelming), and undeniably awesome (because for days on end, my job is to haunt yarn companies’ websites). Every now and then, during the yarn selecting process, you end up with an extra skein or two of yarn. This happened a few times with KCC3, and I totally want to share my good fortune with you guys. So over the next few weeks, I’ll be showing off a few patterns and giving away some yarn!
Let’s start with the Zostera marina projects with SweetGeorgia’s beautiful yarns!
That’s Merino Silk Aran on the mitts, and BFL Sock on the socks. I am absolutely mad about both of these yarns, and I’ve got a skein of each (in the colors used in the book) to give away! So, since I’ve got two goodies to give away, let’s have two ways to win, shall we?
For the first chance to win, leave a comment on this post telling me how you found out about SweetGeorgia’s yarns. Are they old favorites? New to you? On the needles now? Something you’re looking forward to trying? There’s no right answer, just tell your story!
For the second chance to win, pin the picture in this post to your pinterest boards. To do that, you can either click the pinterest button at the top of the post (it’s red and looks like a p) or you can click on the ‘Pin it’ button that comes up when you hover your mouse over the picture itself. Just be sure you’re pinning the picture from this post.
Comments left and pins made between now and the end of the day (eastern time) Tuesday, June 24, 2014 will be entered to win. I’ll pick winners, contact them to get their addresses, and arrange to send the yarn their way. If you’re leaving a comment, be sure to use a real email address so I can contact you if you’ve won (I won’t do anything with those email addresses besides notify the winner). If you win by pinning, I’ll leave a comment on your pin letting you know you’ve won. If I do get in touch with you, I need to hear back from you within 72 hours or I will pick a new winner and contact them. Sorry, but I can only send prizes to US addresses.
P.S. Thanks so much to everyone who entered, winners have been notified and I’m waiting to hear back from them with their addresses!
I fell in love with the color and the sheen in the BFL sock.

I fell in love with this green sock yarn that someone on one of my groups was knitting with. It was Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in the color Savory. I am knitting Narcissus pseudo-narcissus socks with it. I am anxious to try some of their other bases.
Thanks Hunter.
Oh, how lovely! I’m casting on for my Very First Pair of socks tonight actually, and this yarn is new to me. Looks luscious.
Sweet Georgia Yarns….new to me. Would love to be selected to see what you’re a fan of. That red is beautiful and would be great for Knit Red items. Your mitts look great. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
Love SGY! Have a few skeins in my stash! Been to the studio a couple times!
I learned of Sweet Georgia yarns from a wonderful designer named Hunter Hammersen. Maybe you’ve heard of her? Anyway, I would LOVE to knit the Zostera marina Sock!!!!
Eat. Sleep. Knit in Georgia introduced me to SweetGeorgia Yarn!
I hear wonderful things about Sweet Georgia, but I’ve yet to get my hands on a skein. I love that green, though. I might need to buy some immediately, what with the sock yarn KAL I’m doing this summer…I certainly wouldn’t want to run out of yarn!
I knew about Sweet Georgia through Ravelry. Awesome yarn and fiber!
I’ve never used it, but have heard nothing but good things about it. Would love the chance to try it out for myself!
I worked with Felicia’s brother! I’ve always been a knitter and he saw me working on something one night … And he started telling me about his sister who was starting a yarn company. She had literally just come up with the name and idea!
Oh man. I follow Felicia Lo’s blog and ogle Sweet Georgia yarns, but I’ve never tried them. Pretty please, pick me!!
I’ve never knit with Sweet Georgia before, but can’t wait for a chance to get my hands on some!!!
I live in Vancouver (home of SweetGeorgia) and first discovered Felicia’s gorgeous yarns many years ago at my LYS, Urban Yarns. I always end up buying a few skeins at her booth at Knit City (it’s October 4 & 5 this year). I also took a design class with Emily Wessel (from Tin Can Knits) at SweetGeorgia’s shop last fall and couldn’t resist buying some more! Thanks for an awesome giveaway and for sharing the SweetGeorgia love!
