Knitty Pattern, Plus Sale!
Having a pattern in knitty is a funny thing. You spend a long time knowing it’s coming (but not being allowed to talk about it), you know it will be great fun, but you never know quiiiiite when it will happen. That’s the state I was in for the last several weeks, but after yesterday, the waiting is officially over. May I present Deflect.
These were actually my dad’s birthday socks last year. I finished them while The Boy and I were in Maine in October, and then shamelessly pressed The Boy into modeling them for a little photo shoot (when you have your very own handy beach, it would seem unwise not to use it). Then I had to wait and wait and wait…first for the appropriate birthday, then for the socks to go live on knitty.
But now the waiting is over, and I think we should celebrate. How about we do a little sale? What about 50% off any individual pattern (that’s anything except the full books)? So here’s how you do it:
- Go to my ravelry store, and put anything you want in your cart.
- When you’re ready to check out, look for the button that says use a coupon code and click it.
- Type in the word DEFLECT in the little box that popped up, and hit the button that says apply. You’ll see the change in your total right away.
- Check out like normal, and get knitting!
The coupon is good until the end of the day, eastern time, Tuesday September 17. You can use it as many times as you like, and it works on anything except the full books!
And now, just because it feels good to finally share them after so much waiting, one more gratuitous sock shot!
Gorgeous socks, Hunter! You can bet I’ll be knitting at least one pair.
Those are just lovely, thank you for the pattern and the discount offer!
Yay for you!
Even more Yay for us. Thanks so much for the discount.
Beautiful socks. The wavy pattern did actually trigger a memory of me playing around in high school with an Oscilloscope.
By the way you always manage to find the best beach rock props. How do you do that?
Thank you, Hunter! Both for the socks, which look like they are just interesting enough without being too complicated to knit (while I am capable of knitting complicated socks, I generally don’t), and for the discount, which made me look through your patterns again and realize that the Narcissus cuffs are just what I was looking for!
Those are some snazzy cables!
Lovely socks! This might be my favorite pattern in the new Knitty. I’m going to knit them with some light fingering handspun I just finished. I’m hoping that if I knit the largest size on smaller needles, they’ll fit over my instep and heel.
And a truly fine set of socks they are, if I may say so. Comfortable to wear and very good looking.
I love them, Hunter!
Beautiful socks! Thanks for making them available for free – that’s very generous.
Love the socks! Also love the hat you’re wearing in your profile pic. Is it available somewhere?
Thanks! And yes, the hat is available. It’s the Smashing Cap from Heather Ordover’s latest book.
Awesome, thanks!
Is there a picture of the gusset/inside edge of the foot somewhere? The pattern description mentions an “unusual gusset” but the outside edge of the foot looks fairly normal (heel flap) and I can’t see the inside edge of the foot in any of the photos…
Hi Susan, the very first picture right at the top of the knitty page shows it. One set of gusset decreases happens where you’d expect, the other happens beside the cable panel, right on top of the foot. Hope that helps!
