Book of Cowls Giveaway
One of the most delightful parts of this February’s Visionary retreat was getting to meet and spend time with some of the folks in the knitting world that I’d known before only through their work. One of the people I was most excited to meet was Sivia Harding. I’ve long admired her work and was more than a little thrilled at the prospect of spending time with her in person. She was even more charming than I could have imagined. We spent a lovely (if chilly) afternoon wandering around taking pictures of one of her beautiful creations. (That’s Ambrosial from her Mezzaluna Club.)
During the retreat, I got to hear all about her latest project. It’s called The Book of Cowls, and it’s an ebook of seven cowl patterns with matching cuffs (you guys all know how much I love cuffs, and these are absolutely smashing). The patterns will be released over the next year, and they all feature Sivia’s characteristic beautiful aesthetic and attention to detail. The first pattern pair, Sublimity, has been released and is lovely. (Picture used with permission, click to see it bigger.)
All the details are over on the book’s ravelry page. The ebook is available at a discount until the end of the month, so grab it now and spend the savings on some yummy yarn to make some of the projects. And, because Sivia is as generous as she is charming, she’s letting me give a copy of the ebook away to one of you. To enter, go take a look at the list of her designs. Then, once you’ve collected yourself and gotten over being dazzled at all that loveliness, come back and leave a comment here telling me which is your favorite. I’ll leave comments open until the end of the day (eastern time) on Thursday, March 28 and will announce a winner on Friday.
Boy was it hard to pick just one but I’ve had my eye on Lumen ever since Volume 4 of Wool People came out but Sublimity comes in a close second and about 10 more are in third place. Gorgeous stuff!
She does have a lot of lovely patterns! The Winter’s Eve socks are stunning. I love how she manages to make a sock with cables and beads, which sounds a bit over the top, actually look simple and elegant.
Gorgeous designs! They are all so pretty, but if I had to say one, I’d pick Winter’s Eve.
I had a hard time deciding (and you may have cost me money on the River Rocks Scarf), but I think my favorite is Millefiori!
Thanks for introducing me to a new-to-me designer!
I LOVE Sivia’s designs. I think I’ve made about 10 of them, and I want to do almost all of them. I wear my Aquitaine cuffs ALL THE TIME. My current fave of Sivia’s is her Fluency gloves.
Sublimity……beautiful!
I’ve been a big fan of Sivia Harding’s designs for years … my “favourite” is often the one I just looked at!! Gothic Leaf was my first ever lace knitting, so that holds a special place in my heart. I love Due Amori, Aphrodite, Harmonia’s Rings, Norwegian Woods, Moon Shadow, Ophidian, Harbour Lights … but I guess my absolute favourite has to be Tibetan Clouds – it makes my heart sing!
You were right. These are some of the most beautiful knitted cowl. I love them all the one that impressed me was the Hooded shawl.
I would love to be gifted with beautiful book
Sublimity from the new book has the same classic yet comfy style of Harmonia’s Rings – a longtime fave. So hard to decide, but I’ll go with Sublimity this go round…
Tough tough call! I think I have to say River Rocks though. I’ve seen it in person and it’s so different from other beaded scarf patterns.
The Lumen shawl is lovely. So is that cowl!
I’ve had Mimosa in my “queue” since before Ravelry existed. 🙂 I also love the Ophedian. I really enjoy so many of her patterns!
Sivia is a fabulous teacher. 🙂 I would love to do Ambrosial. And Harmonia’s Rings sweater. So many beauties, so little knitting time!
It’s so hard to pick just ONE favorite! Ophidian is stunning, and looks great in any color or weight. I love her cowls and socks, too!
Oaken dreams… so understated and lovely!
They are all wonderful, but I think Lumen is my favorite.
Oh man I really want to make Jo’s Pride hooded shawl. Lovely.
I have to go with the Grace Socks. But the Continuum boot cuffs joined them in my queue.
I love manyl of them but I have to admit the Jo’s Pride Hooded shawl is my very favorite. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love the Hooded Shawl, and Sublimity is lovely…very hard to choose!
Such lovely patterns. Hard to pick one, but the Harmonia’s Rings Sweater definitely caught my eye.
I love Harmonia Rings! I knitted it using Mountain Colors and absolutely love it! It probably is a favorite, but all of Sivia’s designs are stunning! Each and every one is gorgeous!!!
My fav is L’Estaque socks. Very pretty!
I love Siva’s designs. I’m a mitten/glove nut, so the fluency gloves pattern screams out my name! I would love the new eBook of cowls.
Oh…this was difficult…I think it is Leafwise…I have a soft spot for all things botanical …all the designs are gorgeous.
