Brain Teaser
Would you like to have your mind ever so gently blown to smithereens? I promise it doesn’t hurt. I further promise that when you’re done going ‘wait, just how does that work again?’ and you move on to ‘ok, let’s try it’ you’ll be delighted.
Jeny Staiman (she of Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind Off and the Double Heelix socks) has done something clever. Something with a cowl and buttons and math and possibly a bit of magic. Something I’m more or less powerless to explain properly, so you’ll just have to go see for yourself.
I suggest you start here with the video, then head over to the ravelry page for the pattern itself. This is one of those sort of unpatterns…it’s an idea, more than a specific set of stitches. Once you grasp the concept, you can use it to do a whole host of different things. I, personally, see making something similar in stretchy fabric (can you say super quick holiday gifts).
Now go, somebody get started on this, because I’m totally looking forward to seeing all the variations you come up with!
Thanks for sharing this. How cool would it be in handspun? Yikes! There just aren’t enough hours in the day to knit all this stuff, even though I am retired.
Perfect for the yarn I bought yesterday!!! Now I know why I bought it! Casting on now…. thanks for the tip!
This is so cool! I’m going to need to knit a few of these.
You need a “Like” button on your blog.
Woah! It is as what you said. The video is awesome! I need to get myself some yarn to cast on!
