Advance Planning
Next month is going to be busy. It’s the good sort of busy. Actually it’s two good sorts of busy, first the super productive slightly frantic sort, then the relaxed chill sort. It should all be fun, but it does require a bit of advance planning.
So, I’m polling the collective here. First, any must know tips for Rhinebeck? I’m going (yay), and it’s my first one, and I want to be sure to do it right. Second, any marvelous yarn shops in Maine I should know about? Maine’s big, and we’ll be staying on the coast, so nothing too far inland. But you guys are all knowing, so I’m shamelessly asking you for ideas.
Yay Rhinebeck! I’ll be going also. One thing to know is that the weather is very unpredictable this time of year. Bring a rain jacket and footwear that you don’t mind getting wet just in case. And you have to try something from the artichoke booth…but go early because the line gets long…but they are very tasty dishes.
By the way, Hunter…did you check out the Rhinebeck group on Ravelry? Lots of good advice there. And I forgot to ask…are you giving a workshop? Signing books? Have a booth I can check out?
Totally just there as a shopper/visitor/sheep gawker!
Well in that case…check out the rav group for advice. Be prepared for crowds, lots of walking, dress in layers…cold in the AM but ca get quite warm in the afternoon if its sunny. Enjoy the beautiful autumn colors in upstate NY!
Late to the party, I know, but as a Mainer I have to represent! Check out KnitWit in Portland and Purl Diva in Brunswick on your way through–they’re excellent! There’s also Halcyon Yarns in Bath, which is mindblowing and wonderful, and String Theory in Blue Hill. Ask the locals about food–there are lots of restaurants that cater to tourists but aren’t very good, so make sure to pass those up for the real gems. Have fun!
Oh, all excellent suggestions Bristol, thanks!
