Beginnings

One of the folks I had the pleasure of meeting at TNNA this June was Alisha of Alisha Goes Around.  I’d first heard about Alisha after 2011’s TNNA (and all the things I heard were ever so nice).  I very much wanted to check out her yarn for myself.  Alas, shortly after that TNNA, Alisha’s life got complicated, and her yarn got hard to find.

But now…now she’s back.  She’s back, and she was nice enough to share some of her yarn with me when we met.  The yarn, Tracks (of Bison) Fingering in Briton, has been floating in the upper layer of the stash since June.  This week it leapt onto my needles.  Not too much later, the first of these wee gloves jumped right back off.  Number two will be taking up residence on my needles this weekend.  Now I totally get what all the fuss was about.  This is some seriously nifty yarn.  I’ll tell you more about it later, but for now, I’ll just distract you with a picture.

Also this weekend, we’re planning a meetup with friends who have handy dandy loaner people.  That is, child-sized people they have graciously agreed to loan me for a few minutes for purposes of photographing for blatant promotion of knitted goodness.  This means there’s a much improved chance that you guys will get a pattern for the wee knitted hats that held my attention last week.  No promises (somehow taking pictures of kids sounds hard…these are awesome kids though, so I have high hopes), but I’ll totally try!
