Blue
One of the questions I get most often is ‘where’s the blue?’ or some variation on that. I usually wriggle and squirm and more or less decline to answer.
The truth is that I’m not a big fan of blue. I realize that most people like it, but it’s just never done much for me. There are all sorts of other colors that grab me more (like orange, have you seen all the oranges out there–and gray, how can you waste any time on blue when there are dozens and dozens and dozens of grays to explore).
Now for KCC, I could explain it away pretty easily. Those patterns are based on plants, and there aren’t a huge number of blue plants out there. That’s not going to work for the next one. The next one’s theme simply demands a few blue projects. Which is why I find myself with a pile of blue (or blue-ish) swatches. Surprising, but so far the results are encouraging.
And yes, this does meant that there is a book the third, thank you very much. It’s already well underway, and I’m sure I’ll be boring you all to death with the minute details of its making over the next few months!
Never a bore–always fascinating!
Yay! So glad another book is in the works.
Blue is kryponite!! Nuff said! When does sample knitting start for book three?
I knew that Christy will bring up the kryptonite! Let me know if you need me to test knit in blue!
I agree with Christy. Not a blue fan particularly. Orange is so much happier.
If there are socks to be knit for Book the Third, holler. I’m enjoying Crocus Vernus and have decided to knit my way through KCC in the order listed. That way I don’t have to play favourites.
Blues, except for teals, are not appealing to me. Greys — pfaugh!! Orange, gold — oh yes, lively and alive. Here in the Pacific Northwest, so many folks wear colors that reflect the weather (sick blues and greys) that sometimes I want to throw an orange tantrum.
Can’t wait to be bored! I think blue is always better with a bit of orange somewhere nearby, or movement – the Pacific off the Kaikoura Coast was particularly splendid today when we walked the peninsula.
Personally, I like all the colors, although I admit to not using much orange. Yay for book the third, although I still haven’t knitted my way through the first one yet 🙂 And like Christy, I want to know when the sample knitting begins?
Sample knitting should be a May/June/July sort of thing this time!
yay!! I love blue!…your stuff is always so pretty and interesting that I’m not sure I’ve ever lamented the lack of blue. and some of your patterns have inspired me to knit blue/teal socks. 🙂
