An Interesting Evening
I was sitting at my computer, diligently typing away, and the doorbell rang. I opened the door, and my neighbor’s son and his friend were on the porch.
“Here,” they said, “we got you a kitten.”
And sure enough, they were holding a kitten. A teeny tiny kitten. A nearly microscopic kitten. I’ve seen citrus fruits bigger than this kitten.
It made for an exciting evening, and the timing was just spot on perfect (middle of exams, check; middle of book, check; leaving shortly for a trip, check).
Anyone want to reassure me that this is a kitten, not a crisis, and that I have the necessary fortitude to handle this?
Kittens are too cute and fuzzy to be a crisis. Usually a crisis has spikes. 🙂
Although to be fair, this kitten does have quite a few spikes. Kitten claws are needle sharp, and his wee tiny teeth aren’t too shabby either.
He is awfully damn cute though. And undeniably fuzzy.
Did you… um… want a kitten?
Well, now that you mention it, not so much. But how do you say no to a fluff ball the size of your fist? Especially when it’s sitting right there…staring at you…with it’s tiny kitten eyes.
I will need photo ID to tell! It could be a bunny. You could have a bunny to go with your kitten in a few more weeks! What about your porch cat? Is he/she still around?
Porch kitty is still making visits most day for a little chat. And I will work on getting a picture of wee tiny kitten of tinyness, but right now he’s a bit grimy around the edges and not terribly photogenic.
Pictures or the kitten didn’t happen!
Tomorrow! He’s got eye cream in now and isn’t at his most photogenic.
Eye cream???? Sounds like you are in love already. Ü
Wow, that’s the most inventive way of finding homes for a litter of kittens I’ve ever heard! That said, who can resist tiny balls of fluff? Once kitten and older cats adjust, they will probably do most of the kitten training for you, in my experience, as well as providing plenty of “prey” for kitten to attack. So he might not be as much work as you fear 🙂
Sandi, the eyecream is because he has a cold and his eyes are gooey…he’s too young to need a beauty regimen!
And Barb, I totally hope you’re right. We didn’t find two cats to be that much more work than one, so I’m hoping the same holds true for a third. And really…he’s 12 ounces…how much work can he be. Right?
