Book Yarn, Part II
Hey look, it’s our friend Percival again. I am totally making him earn his keep. Fair disclosure, I set him up on the front porch and clicked through all of the various yarns one after the other. It was windy, some of the pictures feature yarn wandering off to one side or the other. It was also getting dark. So you might be able to line all the pictures up and figure out in what order I took them based on how dark it is. But I’m guessing you’ve got better things to do with your time.
On the left is Handwerks So-Soft-DK in the color Lemongrass. Now we all know I love Handwerks for socks, but this was my first exposure to their non-sock yarn. Turns out, I love it too. This is a 80/10/10 merino cashmere nylon blend. I’m actually pretty convinced it would make yummy thick socks, but this particular skein is destined for something else entirely.
On the right is Handwerks Sock Plus 8 in the color Misty Morning. Sock Plus 8 is quickly becoming one of my very favorite sock yarns. It’s soft, seemingly indestructible, nicely proportioned, and comes in great colors. I’m thrilled to be using it again.
I’m loving this “parade of yarns”! Got my lawn chair set up to watch more of them!
Hah, now I want a marching band! There are 20 yarns total and I’ll cover them over the next week or two. I’ve got a little surprise coming up next week, and am still churning away on the blue socks, so it won’t be all Percival all the time though. Don’t forget the sunscreen and iced tea. They’re vital to any parade.
I love the tease of the yarn parade – it’s going to make my frantic rush to the mailbox when I get home all the more frenzied.
Also – I blame you for my desire to go find a glove hand manequin thing. Well, you and Percival and my not-quite-brother-in-law for not making me the mitt blockers I requested yet. I could try to do the Age of Innocence thing and have my hands sculpted, that at least would insure a perfect fit for me and an excuse to never gift knit gloves…
Hah, happy to help. The real question is, do I show the yarns that are headed your way, or do I keep them secret. Or better yet, show them and give absolutely no indication that they’re on their way around the world right now.
And I found Percival on etsy (snort, now it sounds like a dating service). Just search on ‘glove form’ and you’ll find lots. They do tend to run big though, but I totally love the look.
