Brazen Hussy
Published On: June 7, 2011

I’ve completely abandoned all pretense of fidelity and become an absolutely brazen hussy.  I have a new beau.  Don’t worry, The Boy knows all about it.  My new suitor is a teeny tiny porch kitten.  See?

This little guy and I are totally courting.  He’s come to the porch from time to time this Spring (he naps on one of the chairs), but now he seems to have made a bit more of a commitment.  Starting this past Friday, he’s been on the porch every morning when we opened the door.  He’ll sit and make googly eyes at our cats if we leave the front door open.  And of course, he’s gracious enough to have a little snack when we offer it.  He’s a well mannered gentleman and wouldn’t want to offend.

So I, being the world’s biggest sap when it comes to kittens (that noise you hear is The Boy vigorously nodding his head), have decided I must befriend and then rescue him.  So far, he’s gotten used to coming here every morning.  He’ll visit with our cats through the door or through the window.  Whenever I see him, I bring him some tasty kitten snacks.  At first, he’d run right off the porch when I set them out.  But eventually, he got used to me handing them out and he’d eat while I sat on the other side of the screen door and chatted with him.  Yesterday, I stayed outside on the far side of the porch wile he ate.  Today, I started inching his food bowl closer and closer to me.  He still won’t let me get near enough to touch him, but he will sit three or four feet away and eat.  After his snack, he goes to the other side of the porch and takes a little nap.  He’s still very skittish, but I’m calling it progress.

So…anybody looking for a cat?  Because if you give me a few weeks, I think I might have one ready for a good home.
