Wanna Share the Pain?
You know how when you hear a recording of yourself it doesn’t sound at all like you sound in your head? And I don’t know about you, but I never like it. In my head, I’m much more clever/polished/together. When committed to tape, I become alarmingly squeaky. Turns out I talk kinda fast too. Oh well. If you wanted to revel in my squeaky shame, you could head over to Knit Picks and listen to their most recent podcast. I natter on at length. Don’t worry though, if you don’t, I’ll never know. In fact, that might be for the best…
I beg to differ. You don’t sound remotely “alarmingly squeaky”. What you do sound like is passionate and excited, which I know you are. Good interview! If I didn’t already have the book, you would have convinced me to nab it.
Isn’t it weird listening to / watching oneself on camera or recorded? I realized after one interview I did last year that sadly I talk out one side of my yap whilst speaking in French. I’m pretty sure I don’t do it when I speak in English, but no-one had ever taped me speaking about sheep, rabbits, and spinning fiber into yarn. Who knows?! Maybe I just look like an idiot when I’m talking about that stuff? *facepalm*
I’m sure you sound great! We are always our own worst critics… right?
… off to go and listen!
Great podcast – very interesting. I always find it very interesting to find out what goes on behind the scenes. As previously stated if I didn’t already own the book I would be ordering. Can’t wait for your next one!
I’ve only heard about half of the interview at this point, but I have to say that you don’t sound squeaky at all. I find it fascinating listening to you speak about your inspiration for the book and the research involved. We have quite a bit in common….my degree is in history, but I went on to study fashion design. I feel that this background is reflected in the things I design and can see it with your work as well. Congratulations once again on an outstanding book.
