That’s Better
I have embraced the idea that blocking is not stretching. It is smoothing. Adjusting. Nudging into place. It does not need to be a hugely violent process. Once I got that notion through my head, the reblocking of the cowl went much better. See? Wee curly lettuce edges, just as I wanted. Order is restored to the universe.
Oh, I love that description. Life is rather like blocking, neh? Or maybe blocking is rather like life.
I’m doing a pair of socks as a gauge experiment, or will be doing so soon. I tend to knit my socks quite tightly (fingering weight yarns at 10 stitches to the inch), and think that I prefer that fabric. But I’m trying to loosen up with this pair, and see how I like that fabric. It’s a learning experience, and feels somehow analogous.
Let the knitting and blocking be gentle…
Great description! Gorgeous.
It’s Beautiful!
what are you blocking on…looks like a magnetic board I have….
I love this cowl and I do like the soft edge
I’m blocking it on a magnetic bulletin board similar to this. But mine is smaller and square. I find it handy enough I might be buying a second, larger one just to use for blocking. The grid lets me indulge my obsessive tendencies!
That’s very pretty.
It’s lovely.
