Patterns and Yarn and Pictures Oh My
Alrighty, after much delay (we’re pretending it’s so I could take the socks far away for a photo shoot, not because I was lazy) the pattern for Peregrinate is out.
I had great fun with these. They came with me on my trip to DC for Savor and on my trips to Rochester and Pontiac to see Jukebox the Ghost and on a few other smaller trips too. The vast majority of them were knit on the road, which seems fitting given the name. I finished them shortly before my excursion to Port Ludlow, so I thought it was only reasonable to take them with me to get some pretty pictures.
The yarn is by Barking Dog Yarns. Suzan just launched her new website. To celebrate, she’s kindly agreed to donate a skein of her sock yarn to one lucky winner. To enter, head over to her site, look through the sock yarn, and come back and post a comment with the name of your favorite color. If you win, she’ll send that yarn off to you (and I’ll send you the pattern or refund your purchase if you already bought it). Just be sure you use a real email address when you leave a comment (I’m the only one who can see it) so I can find you if you win. I’ll leave comments open through Tuesday or so.
And yes, because someone will ask, the second picture does show the left sock on the right foot and the right sock on the left foot. I promise it’s ok…your socks won’t suddenly unravel and no one will yell at you if you wear them backwards. I just wanted to show off the way that lovely acid green ended up in the purl field on both socks. It happened with no intervention on my part (though I was prepared to force it if I had to) and entertained me to no end.
Your sock patterns are always so beautiful, Hunter! I’m always admiring them and wishing I could buy them. This is another lovely pattern to add to your collection. Congrats on finishing it up!
I love the Koi colorway Susan has.
Wow, I can’t believe I’m the first one! But since I didn’t get to test these, and I really want to make them, I’ll play 🙂 It was a hard choice, but I think Nantasket Beach has to be my current favorite colorway, although Ruby-Throated Hummer is a close second!
Koi is GORGEOUS! And so is your new sock pattern – just lovely.
These socks are just beautiful! If I don’t win, I’m definitely buying the pattern. 🙂 I absolutely love the Neptune’s Grotto colorway on Barking Dog Yarns website. I’m going back there on payday. LOL
I love all your patterns, and have many of them. This one is beautiful! I have to say I like the “My Best Faded Shirt” colorway the best.
Snapdragon is my favorite of Barking Dog sock yarns. Love the colors! And I’ve been waiting for the release of this pattern since it came up for testing. Just beautiful.
I think Sky Pirate might be my favorite. Half because of the colors and half because of the name. Great pattern, btw, I can’t wait to knit it up.
Oh my gosh, I love your sense of humor! Thank you for introducing me to the Barking Dog sock yarns…I’ve used up my yarn allowance for this month, but there’s always next month! I fell instantly in love with the Old Barn at Dusk colorway…they would make the most beautiful socks! If I win, I’m going to make MYSELF a pair of socks. I’ve made plenty of socks, but sadly, haven’t kept a single pair for myself.
Thank you for sharing your inspiration and adventures with us. You live a blessed life!
I love Nantasket Beach — it reminds me of sea glass and wearing sweaters at the beach. And your socks would look beautiful in this color.
Another beautiful pattern! It’s hard to choose, but Sky Pirate is my favorite color at the moment.
Congratulations on yet another beautiful pattern! I am always impressed.
Suzan’s colours are all phenomenal, but I have fallen in love with Quiet Ember. Madly in love.
Thank you to both of you for making this contest available!
This sock was so much fun to test knit. I love the Ruby Throated Hummer and it is my favorite Barking Dogs color.
Hard to choose ’cause they’re all so nice. But Exotic Leaf is a real beauty – that’d be my pick!
Wow, it wasn’t easy choosing, gorgeous colours! I think my fave is “California Brittle”.
I love your socks!
I love her colorways, but Nantasket Beach is just stunning. Your new design is so pretty and shows off the yarn to a tee!
Your sock pattern is so cool … and my 18-year-old daughter would want to have two pair in the same colorway … so she could wear both left or both right as well, whenever the mood strikes her.
I love the ‘My Best Faded Shirt’ colorway the most.
Thanks for the beautiful design work and the contest!
Wow! What pretty yarn. These are the people that made me wish I could dye. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Neptune’s Grotto. How gorgeous!
Oh, I like these unsymetric patterns. and the yarn is lovely. My favourite colour is Oklahoma Rose, although this was a hard decision
Those are socks that definately make me want to learn to knit socks. I’ve never made it past the heels yet, but I will, I will, I will. Guess it’s timeto take a class.
The yarn colorways are all gorgeous, but I’d have to pick Snapdragon because it reminds me of teaching my small grandsons how to make them “talk”. They now live 1/2 way across the country since my daughter died, but I’ll always plant snapdragons to remind me of them.
Ruby-Throated Hummer, but Koi runs a close second. I think Ruby-Throated would be a good match for this sock.
I guess I’ll hold off buying this pattern for a few more days …
I lied. My favourite might actually be My Best Faded Shirt.
Some very pretty colorways making it very hard to pick. The skein that most spoke to me was Oaklahoma Rose, all that paleness is such a contrast to our current temperatures
I love all your sock patterns, Hunter. It would be such fun to have this new one, and I loved your blog about taking the pictures at Port Ludlow.
It’s hard to choose among Suzan’s wonderful colors, but I would like Nantasket Beach, since I grew up about 20 miles from there.
thanks!
I am totally in love with My Best Faded Shirt. Yummy 🙂
Beautiful pattern! I fell in love with the Koi colorway right away.
